It was the winter of 1989, though in the eternal springtime of Southern California, “winter” was mostly a rumor. Guns N’ Roses and Poison ruled the Strip, and CYCLONE SOUND ignited with instant chemistry and fearless momentum. SKIN AND BONZ - Self-Titled
Formed in 1991 in Redwood City, California, SKIN AND BONZ exploded onto the Bay Area hard rock scene with a ferocity few bands could match. Known for their high-octane live shows and razor-sharp execution, they quickly earned a reputation as the must-see band, turning every performance into a full-blown event. At a time when grunge dominated the musical landscape, SKIN AND BONZ refused to follow trends, instead doubling down on powerful, no-holds-barred rock fueled by discipline, attitude, and raw intensity.
Musically, SKIN AND BONZ were a force of nature. They crafted a sound that combined hard rock’s driving power with unexpected melody, creating a soundscape that was both chaotic and tightly controlled. One reviewer described them as a cross between the raw, anarchic energy of punk of the Sex Pistols, the funk-driven fire of the Chili Peppers, and the virtuosic, arena-ready guitar of Van Halen all in one explosive package. SINISTERIA - Self-Titled
Canada’s hard rock legacy runs deep, and SINISTERIA is a prime example of the untapped fire that fueled the early ’90s scene. Formed in Toronto at a turning point for heavy music, SINISTERIA fused the raw power of Mötley Crüe, Black Sabbath, and Aerosmith into a high-octane sound built for big stages and bigger moments. Fronted by commanding vocalist Rick Redpath and backed by Paul Tikkanen (guitars), Reg James (drums), and Dana Perry (bass), the band delivered relentless, explosive performances across Toronto’s hottest venues.

THE POUND - Self-Titled
Forged in the fire of the Bay Area rock underground, THE POUND was decades in the making before officially forming in 1987. Born from the ashes of the ’70s band Black Rose, lifelong musicians Clay Babb (guitar), Cyni Skidd (guitar), Karl Reiche (bass), and Mark Cox (drums) reunited and found their missing piece in powerhouse vocalist Mike Moore. One rehearsal at Soundtek Studios was all it took - his “voice from hell” sealed the deal and THE POUND was unleashed.
Throughout the late ’80s and early ’90s, THE POUND quickly became notorious for ferocious live shows and street-level hard rock that pulled no punches earning opening slots for numerous national heavyweights. Their songs were ripped straight from real life: chaos, excess, conflict, and survival, delivered with raw authenticity and zero compromise. Loud, heavy, and unapologetic: a fierce fusion of Skid Row’s gritty swagger, Accept’s pounding precision, and Banshee’s soaring melodic power, this sound is riff-driven, anthem-ready metal with bite and unforgettable hooks.
WANTED - Cutting Edge
WANTED is a rising force in the hard rock and metal scene, formed in 2021 with a clear mission: to revive the massive, melodic, and unapologetically loud spirit of classic heavy metal. Drawing inspiration from icons like Van Halen, Ratt, and Dokken, the band channels the golden era of arena rock while carving out a modern edge all their own.
The current lineup features Sterling Primeau on vocals, Alan Mares on lead guitar, Christian Shonts on rhythm guitar, Paul Slezak on bass, and Chris Rajt on drums. RUDEBOY - Broken Bones
Disillusioned with the shifting tides of the LA music scene, RUDEBOY set out to create something raw, real, and impossible to ignore. Fueled by a love for punks’ unfiltered energy and hard rock’s swagger, they forged a sound that was both gritty and undeniably catchy. Broken Bones, their defining release, is everything a hard rock fan craves - rebellious, streetwise, and dripping with sleaze. Born from the neon-drenched chaos of the mid-’80s Sunset Strip, the album channels the hedonism and edge of the era with defiant authenticity. BABYLON A.D. - When The World Stops (Kivel Records)
BABYLON A.D., hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, caught the attention of Arista Records president and music industry mogul Clive Davis in 1989. He signed them after a live showcase in Los Angeles.
BABYLON A.D.’s debut album was released in 1989 and achieved Gold status, spent 38 weeks on the Billboard Top 200, and included three #1 Metal Radio songs: “Bang Go the Bells,” “Hammer Swings Down,” and “The Kid Goes Wild.”
Their sophomore effort, Nothing Sacred, was released in 1992. It produced two singles: “Bad Blood” and “So Savage The Heart.” The band toured throughout the early 1990s and had several videos on MTV.
Thirty-six years and nine albums later, the band shows no signs of slowing down.

N.Y. FURY - Reach For The Stars
Born in the heart of New York’s rock scene, N.Y. FURY evolved from a group of teenage rockers covering Led Zeppelin and Van Halen in 1980 into one of the East Coast’s most talked-about unsigned bands of the ‘80s. Led by bassist and songwriter Gene Hunter, the band sharpened their sound and image, building a loyal following with high-energy shows that sold out venues like L’Amour, The Stone Pony, and Club Bene - all before landing a record deal. Their mix of fierce stage presence, slick style, and undeniable talent set them apart from the crowd.
Despite label interest and a nearly half-million-dollar deal in motion, tragedy struck when their manager and label partner, Dan Guilliano, died suddenly, halting N.Y. FURY’s momentum. The band eventually disbanded in 1990, but Gene carried their spirit forward - winning international songwriting contests and forming new projects with major-name musicians. Today, N.Y. FURY remains a symbol of raw New York rock grit and the electric passion that defined a golden era of heavy metal.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Rebels & the Sunset Strip were the final wave of Sunset Strip bands, the most competitive market for rock ‘n’ roll that had ever existed. During this era (1980s/Early ‘90s), the Sunset Strip had become a living, breathing entity of extreme depth and breadth of musicality, self-indulgence, and living in the intrepidly fast and dangerous lane. This boxset is a four-disc collection with 36 Bands and 72 Digitally Remastered Studio Recordings.
